Frozen or Unresponsive Computer

If a computer isn't working as planned, try these things first before filing a support ticket.

  1. Check the keyboard and mouse: are they plugged in? The keyboards have lights above the Page Up and Page Down buttons, which can be checked by toggling Caps Lock.
  2. Try opening Task Manager by pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL and selecting Task Manager. If a program isn't responding but the rest of the computer works, try forcing the program to close using Task Manager.
  3. Try restarting the computer by clicking on the Windows Logo in the bottom left corner of the screen, and then Power > Restart
  4. At this point, regardless of the outcome, please file a support ticket

If the computer still isn't working at this point, press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down. Doing so will discard all unsaved work and preferences.
